Welcome to Berean Covenant Church where we bring the B.O.O.M. “The Blessings Of Our Master” to everyone we come in contact with. REV. WILLIE G. COMER JR.
Senior Pastor

Rev. Willie G. Comer Jr. is a dedicated and experienced minister born and raised on the Southside of Chicago. His journey of service and leadership began after facing financial challenges post-college, leading him to serve honorably for eight years in the United States Army. 

 

Driven by his passion for learning and ministry, Rev. Comer earned his AS Degree from Kennedy-King College, BA Degree from Chicago State University, and MAR and MDIV degrees from Liberty Theological Seminary. Currently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry degree in Urban Ministry at Liberty, he is committed to furthering his knowledge and impact in this field. 

 

Rev. Comer's ministry journey evolved after he answered his call to preach the Gospel, becoming licensed at Salem Baptist Church of Chicago in June 1996. Under the mentorship of Dr. James T. Meeks, he served diligently for nine years, notably as Student Ministries Pastor from 2000-2009. During his tenure, Rev. Comer significantly expanded the Student Worship Service at Salem Baptist Church, fostering growth and engagement among high school and college students through various ministries such as step, rap, praise, and worship. 

In addition to his pastoral work, Rev. Comer founded and leads Zeta Phi Zeta Christian Fraternity and Sorority Incorporated, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization empowering college students and Christian professionals to impact the world through Christian principles. 

 

In 2009, guided by divine calling, Rev. Comer founded Berean Covenant Church in Champaign, IL, where he serves as Pastor. He spearheaded impactful outreach programs like the Community Basketball Campference and the Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner, fostering unity and community engagement. 

Recognized for his leadership and dedication, Rev. Comer was appointed as the Executive Director of East Central Illinois Youth for Christ in 2014. Under his guidance, the organization has flourished, reaching hundreds of youth through innovative programs like City Life Midnight Basketball and Campus Life Lunch Crew. 

 

Beyond his ministry and nonprofit work, Rev. Comer actively contributes to the community as the Chair of the Human Relations Commission of the City of Champaign. He shares his life and ministry with his wife, Zabrina, and their three children, embodying his belief in fulfilling one's divine calling and purpose. Rev. Comer's guiding mantra is, "Don’t be what you want to be; be everything God called you to be!"

KYLES

Associate Pastor

Reverend William Kyles II serves with a steadfast commitment to both his faith and community. Celebrating 20 years of marriage, he and his wife are blessed with two children, embodying a family deeply rooted in Christian values. A graduate of the University of Illinois, Rev. Kyles earned his Bachelor's degree in Political Science, equipping him with a profound understanding of governance and societal structures. This academic foundation paved the way for his significant contributions to public service, notably in his role as Deputy Mayor for the City of Champaign.

Rev. Kyles's dedication extends beyond political service; he is deeply immersed in his community, taking on various leadership positions that showcase his commitment to fostering growth and unity. His heart for "doing kingdom work" is evident in his tireless efforts to see lives transformed through the power of God. His passion for ministry and community involvement intertwines, making him a beacon of hope and change. Under his spiritual and civic leadership, Rev. Kyles inspires many by demonstrating the impactful synergy of faith in action within the community.

PRINCE 
ROBERTSON

Associate Pastor

Reverend Dr. Prince F. Robertson serves as a help to the head minister and is committed to servant-leadership to Berean Covenant Church and community. 

He is the husband of Mallory Robertson for 15 years and counting and father of Jeremiah, Isaiah and Danielle. 

He is a graduate of Delta College, Saginaw Valley State University, Southern Illinois Carbondale and the University of Illinois. He was ordained in 2019 with the African American Episcopal Church.

 

Rev. Robertson is a strong advocate of education and community leadership/organizing while having Christ in the center of all he does.
